This position reports to the Registrar assists the registration and records staff and is responsible for maintaining and updating confidential student records. Data management is one of the primary responsibilities of the Registration and Records office. It includes processing data for other offices and agencies ensuring the accuracy of data by creating and running reports and preparing data for migration to a new student information system.
Minimum Qualifications
Data-entry skills sufficient to enter data into forms spreadsheets the student information system and web applications
Word processing skills sufficient to use word processing spreadsheets and other software applications to create format edit print and save a variety of documents
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of private information according to law rules policies and procedures
Ability to interact and communicate professionally and tactfully with a variety of constituencies
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a setting where supervision is not constant
Preferred Qualification
College degree or 2 years of experience in higher education
Two years of data entry experience
Ability to use Microsoft Office suite particularly Outlook MS Access Excel and Word
Ability to create database queries in MS Access SQL or other query languages
Knowledge of SMSU policies and procedures and FERPA regulations
Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
