  • $51200-$59200 9-month contract Exempt
    • $51200 for FT at the Bachelors Degree Level
    • $59200 for FT at the Masters Degree Level
    • Amounts above adjusted based on FTE

Purpose of Position

The University of North Dakota (UND) is seeking qualified applicants for a non-tenured teaching position to be filled at the Instructor/Lecturer level within the Department of Atmospheric Sciences.

Duties & Responsibilities

The University of North Dakota (UND) is seeking qualified applicants for a non-tenured teaching position to be filled at the Instructor/Lecturer level within the Department of Atmospheric Sciences. This is a 9-month position and is contingent on available funding. The position is for a one-year term and is renewable depending on performance and funding availability. Base funding will be provided minimally at the 80% level for candidates to teach 6 identical large lecture sections of ATSC-231 Aviation Meteorology. For candidates who prefer to teach one or two additional 3-credit classes (additional 10% to 20% respectively) and/or to provide departmental and university service (10%) then up to 100% base funding is available. Funding is also available for the successful candidate to teach at least one summer course per year.

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences is part of the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at UND and offers degree programs leading to the B.S. M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences. UND is a UCAR Member institution. Spring 2024 enrollments included 128 undergraduate students (70 minors and 58 majors) and 31 graduate students in these programs. Teaching and research is carried out by 12 faculty members; current areas of faculty expertise are listed at Facilities include a 5-cm wavelength dual polarization Doppler weather radar two instrumented ground research sites and use of a Cessna Citation research aircraft in collaboration with a local research firm. Cooperative programs are ongoing with the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office in Grand Forks. Additional information can be found on our web site: .
