Job Description
This is a Specialist role in the IMG Fixed Income Service Team working with six other Specialists to provide critical daily operational support to the Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and management of Investment Index Data. Operational support includes maintenance of the FI Investment Book of Records (IBOR) including start of day and end of day checks liquidity cashflows monitoring of trading activity and overall insights to the Investments Team.
The ideal candidate will have firm knowledge of fixed income markets Indexing strategies and strong experience with Aladdin. Practical experience in an Operations environment including detecting and responding to operational incidents project management managing stakeholders with appropriate escalations and strong understanding of the investments lifecycle are also beneficial.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This role requires a candidate who is comfortable and motivated by building strong professional in-person relationships with the Portfolio Managers and Trading Team.
1. Develop a deep understanding of the end-to-end fixed income investment process conceptually and operationally. This includes a Front-to-Back understanding of the investing lifecycle
2. Support portfolio managers and traders as the key IMG Fixed Income Service client by:
I. Responding to Investment process queries and concerns quickly with valuable insights and explanation
II. Engaging wider EIS teams to collate the information or actions required by Desk and build strong interpersonal relationships. Especially Settlements Team to minimize failed trades
3. Monitor and understand portfolio movements to provide value-adding insights to the Desk especially liquidity (investable cash) duration and general trading activity
4. Support the management of Investment and Index Data to ensure accurate and timely representation of Data to Fixed Income Investment Team
5. Monitor market/world events and consider how these may impact the Investing process and therefore the EIS working day. Discuss with colleagues.
6. Work with Investment Risk and Operational Risk Teams to improve controls and control environment
7. Identify build and drive process improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes eg: automations new coding technological suggestions an collaborations
8. Familiarise with the Vanguard Management System as an approach to continuous improvement (managing time communicating effectively root cause analysis of incidents continuous learning)
9. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree and/or Professional Certification (CFA MBA) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of business related experience preferred. Investment Operations Data Management or related experience preferred.
- Strong analytical capability and understanding of financial to quickly become knowledgeable in current and future policies practices trends and information affecting Vanguards business and the Investment Operations organization.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with external and internal stakeholders at all levels in the organization. Ability to lead initiatives to desired conclusion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills interpersonal skills and the ability to build solid business relationships.
- Ability to function in a fast paced ambiguous environment working with multiple and diverse responsibilities while maintaining client satisfaction
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications and investment management platforms (Aladdin CRD Access etc.) preferred
- Readily learns new complex concepts and has the ability to incorporate them into analysis and decision making process. Excellent judgment and ability to analyze and respond to complex issues.
