Job Description
We are seeking a Data Scientist to support a federal agencys enterprise AI and data strategy by designing developing and deploying cutting-edge machine learning and AI solutions. This role will lead experimentation with advanced AI technologies including large and small language models AI agents and agentic workflows to deliver scalable cost-efficient and mission-aligned capabilities. Hybrid work environment and must be available to work onsite as necessary.
The Data Scientist will collaborate with data engineers architects and stakeholders to ensure AI models are trained on high-quality ready-to-use data and integrated into operational environments through modern MLOps practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Design solution and deploy modern scalable and cost-efficient AI/ML models and AI solutions to support the agencys mission and AI and Data strategies.
- Conduct research and experimentation on AI technologies including large language models small language models AI agents and AI agentic workflow.
- Collaborate with data engineers architects and others to ensure data readiness for AI applications.
- Implement MLOps practices for model training fine-tuning and optimization.
- Provide technical expertise in AI and machine learning including natural language processing information retrieval summarization chatbot development and model performance metrics such as accuracy precision recall F1 score ROUGE BertScore t-sne similarity scores etc.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Data Scientist
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Engineering Data Science Computer Science or related field.
- Experience in machine learning AI and deep learning including large language models small language models embedding models and natural language processing from designing to prototyping and deploying in production. Additionally experience in developing AI agents and AI agentic workflows is highly desirable.
- Extensive experience in data quality pipeline development encompassing integrity accuracy completeness consistency timeliness and reliability of data.
- Proficiency in AI frameworks and libraries such as OpenAI Langchain PyTorch TensorFlow and Hugging Face.
- Understanding of MLOps practices and tools including AWS Bedrock and SageMaker.
- Technical proficiency in Python and other relevant programming languages.
- Experience working within DevOps practices including authoring automated unit and system tests and utilizing standard tools such as Git.
- Experience with AI model development training fine-tuning and optimization.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be able to attain and retain a Public Trust Clearance.
Desired Skills:
- Masters Degree in Computer Science Engineering Data Science Mathematics Physics or another quantitative discipline.
