JOB SUMMARY

The Electronics Technician Class I (Lead) maintains indoor and outdoor sound equipment televisions security systems fire alarms etc. in safe operating condition; provides information on proper operation of various electronic systems; research design install program modify inspect repair analyze updates report and documentation; and provides materials at job site as required to complete tasks.

In addition the Electronics Technician Class I (Lead) will support the Supervisor of Technical Services by assigning work orders reviewing and approving invoices and performing other administrative and organizational tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:

  1. Must be a current internal SLCSD employee and hold a current Electronics Technician title
  2. High school diploma or equivalent
  3. One (1) or more years of job-related experience
  4. Basic experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel etc.) and experience using data-based software
  5. Speak read write present professionally analyze understand and interpret written and verbal communications in English
  6. Experience operating standard office equipment including phone scanner copy and fax machine
  7. Valid Utah drivers license and evidence of insurability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Not having one or all of them does not disqualify any candidate from consideration.

  1. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using data-based software
  2. Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinate with administration and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently
  2. Install electronic equipment: security systems PA systems fire alarms etc.
  3. Repair electronic systems including communications audio-visual alarms television DVD sound systems PA systems security systems fire alarms etc.
  4. Maintain tools and equipment to ensure the availability of equipment in a safe operating condition
  5. Monitor sound equipment PA systems fire alarms security systems and telephones to ensure that equipment is working properly and safely
  6. Research inspect design install and maintain the equipment for all the systems to ensure the system and equipment are working properly and replace outdated equipment as needed
  7. Stock and monitor equipment and supplies to maintain required inventory levels.
  8. Transport various items (e.g. tools equipment supplies etc.) to ensure the availability of materials required at job sites
  9. Communicate and work effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people while maintaining confidentiality and building positive working relationships with employees and stakeholders
  10. Orient school personnel on the proper uses of DVDs security systems PA systems fire alarms voice mail etc.
  11. Participate in meetings workshops and seminars as assigned to convey and gather information required to perform functions
  12. Work under limited supervision utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines.
  13. Adapt to changing work priorities prioritize meet deadlines work as part of a team work with frequent interruptions and attention to detail and accuracy
  14. Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
  15. Assist other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment
  16. Speak read write analyze understand and follow written and verbal communication in English including grammar and punctuation; listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally or in writing
  17. Adhere to all district safety practices procedures and policies
  18. Demonstrate professional workplace etiquette and represent the district in a professional manner
  19. Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
  20. As needed roll push pull bend reach stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.
  21. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES CLASS I (LEAD)

  1. Provide support to principals and others with surveillance camera and video file access video file preservation video platform training vape detection equipment support and other electronics support
  2. Serve as a point of contact to communicate with building administrators custodians and others regarding the status of work orders and projects within their respective buildings
  3. When applicable coordinate with other trades to ensure smooth and efficient completion of work orders and projects
  4. Coordinate equipment rentals when specialized equipment is required for projects or operations
  5. Serve as a liaison for contractors performing technical work explaining the scope and timeline for projects overseeing the contractors involvement in projects and ensuring satisfactory completion of projects
  6. Oversee and facilitate equipment maintenance and supply inventories to ensure continuity of operations
  7. For capital projects coordinate with the purchasing department to design the scope of work write bid specifications and support the bidding and award process. Upon award oversee and coordinate the project walk-through scheduling change orders satisfactory completion and closure.
  8. Develop and provide technical drawings to contractors as needed; provide systems access to contractors as directed
  9. Assist the Supervisor of Technical Services during emergencies as needed; serve in the capacity of the Supervisor of Technical Services when the Supervisor is unavailable
  10. Develop and provide reports as assigned; provide project updates as needed
  11. Serve as a purchasing card holder; make purchases of materials and equipment using a purchasing card; complete required purchasing card training; observe all purchasing laws policies procedures and rules; maintain and submit appropriate records of all purchases made using the purchasing card

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: lifting up to 50 pounds carrying pushing pulling rolling bending reaching stooping kneeling crouching crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting 20% walking and 40% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
