Job Title: SME System Integration Engineer

Location: Hill AFB UT (On-Site)

Canvas is seeking a SME System Integration Engineer.

Duties:

This position is to provide advisory and assistance services to the Air Force. Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Lead the integration of complex systems and subsystems ensuring seamless interoperability and optimal performance.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to a team of engineers and technicians involved in systems integration activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in systems integration methodologies and best practices.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test plans procedures and reports to verify the integration and functionality of systems.
• Lead test integration efforts between different organizations Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and customer representatives.
• Integrate test results with other analysis to determine the validity and reliability of system performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and ensure that they are clearly documented and traceable.
• Verify and validate system requirements through rigorous testing and analysis.
• Support the government in requirements verification through the Alpha Acquisition process.
• Lead efforts to detect analyze and resolve anomalies encountered during system integration and testing.
• Team with customers in anomaly detection data transferal and resolving concerns.
• Develop and implement instrumentation test suites to measure critical system parameters.
• Analyze telemetry data and other test data to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain mathematical reference models used to characterize system behavior.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including engineers technicians project managers and customers.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among different teams involved in systems integration activities.
• Provide leadership strategic and tactical recommendations for program decisions to the customer.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including system integration plans test procedures and test reports.
• Present technical information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve systems integration processes and methodologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering Systems Engineering or a closely related engineering field. *Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval.
• 8 years of experience in systems engineering test and integration or a related field.
• Systems Engineering Principles: Thorough understanding of systems engineering methodologies processes and best practices.
• Test and Integration: Proven experience in developing and executing test plans and procedures for complex systems.
• Requirements Management: Ability to elicit analyze document and manage system requirements effectively.
• Anomaly Detection & Resolution: Strong analytical skills to identify troubleshoot and resolve system anomalies.
• Data Analysis: Ability to analyze test data identify trends and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Technical Documentation: Proficiency in creating clear concise and accurate technical documentation.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with engineers technicians project managers and customers.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Stakeholder Management: Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Technical Expertise: Knowledge of engineering principles in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical aerospace mechanical systems).
• System-Level Thinking: Ability to understand how individual components interact to form a complete system.
• Configuration Management: Familiarity with configuration management principles and practices.
• Relevant Tools: Proficiency with relevant software and tools for systems engineering test and analysis (specific tools will vary depending on the organization and role).
• Technical Expertise in relevant systems: (Example ICBM Weapon Systems etc).

Security Clearance:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.

Desired Experience:

• Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering Systems Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
• 10 years of experience in systems engineering test and integration or a related field.
• Previous experience working on Specific Systems relevant to the company - e.g. ICBM systems missile defense systems satellite systems.
• Experience in a leadership role such as a team lead or project manager.
• Experience working with government agencies (e.g. DoD) and industry partners.
• Experience with the full lifecycle of system development from requirements definition to deployment and sustainment.
• Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools.
• Simulation and Modeling: Proficiency with simulation and modeling tools (e.g. MATLAB Simulink).
• Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g. Python R).
• Specific Technical Domain Knowledge: Deep expertise in a specific technical domain relevant to the organizations mission (e.g. RF systems communication systems guidance systems telemetry).
• Agile Development: Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Earned Value Management (EVM): Knowledge of EVM principles and practices.
• Risk Management: Experience in identifying assessing and mitigating technical risks.
• Technical Writing: Ability to produce high-quality technical reports proposals and presentations.
• Innovation and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Leadership and Mentoring: Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership.
• Familiarity with relevant standards: (e.g. military standards industry standards for systems engineering).
• Specific tools expertise: (Tools used by company example DOORS JAMA etc).
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Process Adherence: Ensure adherence to established systems engineering processes procedures and standards.
• Configuration Management: Manage system configurations and ensure proper documentation of all changes.
• Interface Management: Define and manage system interfaces ensuring compatibility and interoperability.
• Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to address potential technical challenges.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve systems integration processes and methodologies.
• Travel (if required): Ability to travel to customer sites test facilities or other locations as required to support system integration activities (estimate percentage of travel if possible).

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
• Ethical Conduct: Maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity in all job-related activities.
