Job Description Summary
* Please Note: All internal candidates will be considered for the appropriate position level based on relevant experience.A Specimen Processor receives inspects and prepares donor plasma and serum samples for testing in a high-volume source plasma testing laboratory.
Job Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive and process incoming samples in preparation of testing.
- Process sample cancellations and resubmissions.
- Perform daily sample reconciliation.
- Process sample resubmissions and cancellations.
- Perform refrigerator freezer and instrument routine maintenance.
- Clean and disinfect work areas and empty biohazardous waste.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High School diploma or GED
- No previous related experience is required
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must be able to speak read and write in English.
- Must possess legible and neat handwriting.
- Must have basic math and computer skills effective phone and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to apply rational thinking and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
- Must possess the ability to deal with problems within the guidelines of standard operating procedures.
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
- Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic and caustic chemicals cold temperatures ( -20C) and frequently to biological hazards.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- 5 hours per shift: Sitting Standing Handling. Finger dexterity Pinching
- 3- 5 hours per shift: Lifting to 30 pounds
- Up to 3 hours per shift: Walking Climbing bending squatting reaching above shoulders reaching waist to shoulder reaching knee to waist reaching floor to knee grasping items carrying/move items up to 30 pounds
