Nature of Work: Looking for: a charismatic and dependable high school special education teacher eager to work with a high need population of 9th through 12th graders. The teacher must provide planned and engaging classroom instruction to students enrolled in a small alternative education setting. The teacher will reinforce instruction to individual students and small groups including implementing personal education plans and behavior plans. The teacher will utilize various behavioral strategies and alternative programs to maximize instruction of standards based curriculum. Job Description:Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and competence of subject matter associated with teaching provide formal and informal assessments to track student progress and provide progress reports as with students moderate disabilities and with a history of and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times and deliver lessons for all content technology into lessons to support student achievement. Design develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the students to set and maintain standards of classroom to implement the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives through instruction and all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and accurate complete and correct records as required by law School Committee Policy and administrative in upholding and enforcing school expectations administrative regulations and School Committee a share of responsibility for supervising and monitoring both formal and informal non-classroom to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned professional meetings educational conferences and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional staff meetings and serve on committees as with other teachers and paraprofessionals as appropriate and necessary.
