Job Description

This is a remote position.

Are you an experienced and detail-oriented medical billing specialist with a strong background in outpatient physical occupational and speech therapy Do you have a track record of success in managing authorizations and insurance eligibility with accuracy speed and professionalism

Our team is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support a Pediatric Therapy private practice with the day-to-day management of insurance authorizations and eligibility verification. This is a fully remote position working Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

This opportunity is with a clinic supported by a leading healthcare management organization that empowers private practices across the U.S. to thrive through operational excellence and advanced revenue cycle management.

As a Authorization & Eligibility Medical Billing Specialist you will take ownership of the full authorization and benefits verification process for a pediatric OT/PT/SLP practice. You ll play a key role in ensuring patients are approved for services avoid billing delays or denials and are clearly informed of their coverage and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility benefits and exclusions for OT PT and SLP services

  • Communicate with insurance companies to clarify plan details deductibles copays coinsurance visit limitations and exclusions

  • Input benefits into benefit forms and communicate coverage scenarios to patients

  • Generate Good Faith Estimates and calculate best- and worst-case out-of-pocket costs

  • Submit and track authorizations for therapy services; monitor expiration dates and request renewals

  • Ensure services are not delivered without appropriate authorization in place

  • Review insurance denials and re-verify coverage when necessary

  • Extract authorization-relevant information from evaluations plans of care and doctor s orders

  • Collaborate with providers and billing teams to ensure accurate records and timely claims

  • Use E-Bridge Software and Fusion Web Clinic EMR (preferred)

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate data in the EMR at all times

  • Follow HIPAA and confidentiality regulations at all times

Qualifications

  • In-depth understanding of medical billing insurance processes and reimbursement practices

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all administrative and billing tasks

  • Excellent communication skills able to communicate clearly with providers insurance representatives and patients

  • Technologically proficient and able to learn new systems quickly

  • Able to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision

  • Reliable responsive and organized in a fully remote work environment



Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance eligibility benefits verification and authorizations for outpatient therapy (PT OT SLP)

  • Prior experience working in an outpatient private practice setting is required

  • Strong work retention history (3 years at the same employer preferred)

  • Expertise in insurance portals phone verification with carriers and navigating complex benefit structures

  • Experience with denial management EOB interpretation and payment posting

  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CPT coding and how they relate to medical necessity authorizations and eligibility

  • Experience creating Good Faith Estimates

  • Familiarity with Fusion Web Clinic EMR highly preferred

Previous experience in a medical administrative role (medical assistant, medical receptionist, or similar) is preferred. Familiarity with WebPT EMR and Therabill for patient payment posting is a plus. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of professionalism and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Comfortable with remote work and proficient in using virtual communication tools. Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-authorizations is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to a positive patient experience.
