Under general supervision the Parts Storekeeper performs responsible work involving the receipt inspection rotation storage inventory ordering and issuing of a wide variety of automotive and/or transit vehicle parts.
Examples of Important and Essential Duties:
Nature of Work: Requires the operation of hand tools and power equipment used in materials handling such as pallet jacks crowbars and forklifts. May require lifting of heavy equipment parts and materials up to sixty pounds (Probationary Period will be used to evaluate this requirement. Failure to meet these qualifications may result in termination of employment). May involve possible exposure to hazardous materials such as diesel fumes cleaning solvents dust adhesives and aerosols. May be required to work rotating shifts weekends and holidays.

Experience:
Two (2) years of experience as an automotive/transit parts storekeeper in a storeroom or warehouse in which the duties consisted of receipt inspection rotation storage inventory ordering and issuing of large quantities of a wide variety of automotive/transit parts and supplies.
License and Certification:
Possession of a current valid California driver license.

Selection Procedure/Examination Requirements
After application submission candidates must complete all subsequent steps to advance in this selection process which includes the following:
Supplemental Questionnaire (Qualifying):
Candidates will be emailed a required supplemental questionnaire to complete as part of the employment application at a later time. This questionnaire is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicants experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for this position. The questionnaire will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications and will not be scored. All work experience education training and other information provided should be consistent with the work history and/or education sections of your application and is subject to verification.
Written Multiple-Choice Examination (Weight 100%):
Candidates deemed to meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in an in-person written multiple-choice examination designed to measure their relative knowledge skills and abilities in job-related areas which may include but not be limited to: knowledge of automotive/transit vehicle parts storeroom methods and procedures including receipt storage identification of parts through catalogs sourcing and issuance of materials supplies and equipment; human relations ability to interact effectively and courteously with co-workers supervisory personnel other city departments and vendors; math ability to count and perform basic job-related arithmetic calculations addition subtraction multiplication and division; ability to read and understand job related printed written materials and write clearly and legibly in preparing orders to vendors requisitions storeroom records and reports which may include inputting written information into a program or database; knowledge of safety methods and procedures in loading unloading moving and storage of materials including hazardous items such as chemicals oils cleaning solutions batteries etc. and safety data sheets. A passing score must be achieved on the written multiple-choice examination in order to be ranked on the eligible list.
Eligible List/Score Report:
A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established so applicants can view the ranks final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information including names of applicants on the eligible list shall not be made public unless required by law. However an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection upon request once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g. as a result of appeals) as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission.
The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be 6 months and may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.

Medical Examination:
Prior to appointment candidates must successfully pass a medical examination to determine his/her ability to perform the essential functions of the job and/or the ability to meet the physical minimum requirement.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Clearance:
Candidates for employment with the San Francisco Airport Commission are required to undergo a criminal history record check including FBI fingerprints and Security Threat Assessment in order to determine eligibility for security clearance and may be required to undergo drug/alcohol screening. Per Civil Service Commission Rule Section 110.9.1 every applicant for an examination must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for the examination. Failure to obtain and maintain security clearance may be basis for termination from employment with the Airport Commission.
Customs Clearance:
This position may require that the incumbent be qualified for unescorted access to the San Francisco International Airport U.S. Customs Security Area. An application for a U.S. Custom Access Seal may be submitted to Customs ONLY after employment has commenced. Employment in this position requires that the incumbent submit an application for successfully acquire and maintain a Customs Access Seal. Per Civil Service Commission Rule 110.9.1 every applicant must possess and maintain the qualifications required by law and by the examination announcement for this examination. Failure to acquire or maintain customs access a requirement for this position may be basis for termination from employment with the Airport Commission. Customs Access Seal requirements and procedures are located in the Code of Federal Regulations Title 19 Part 122 Sections 181 or 189.
