Job Description

Position Description:

This position will work in partnership with the Co-Director of Events Equipment and Facilities to manage all events within the Department of Athletics at Valparaiso University. This position will also manage the Athletic Department Equipment Room.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in event set up and management of all athletic events and rentals.
  • Hire staff of student workers to handle the setup/breakdown of events.
  • Participate in weekly game-day operations meetings to ensure smooth operations on game days.
  • Work with the OneCard office to ensure that all building access is up to date throughout the year.
  • On-site management for Valpo athletic contests as determined by the Assistant Athletic Director of Events Facilities and Equipment. This will include hosting any Missouri Valley Conference Championships and rentals as needed.
  • Manage the services and day-to-day operations of the equipment room.
  • Coordinate with teams to manage purchasing inventory tracking distribution and care of athletic equipment and supplies while staying within their respective budget.
  • Ensure the proper fitting and maintenance of all sports equipment including helmets and pads to provide a safe environment for student-athletes by AEMA guidelines.
  • Upkeep and maintenance of all athletic fields including Brown Field Emory Bauer Field and the Softball Complex as well as the surrounding areas of these facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Sports Management.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in college athletics.
  • Experience in fitting and maintenance of all sports equipment including football helmets and pads to provide a safe environment for student athletes per AEMA guidelines.
  • Up to 25% travel.
