You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe primary responsibilities of this position include investigating the effects of therapeutic drugs on ion channels of nematode parasites to facilitate the discovery of new anthelmintic agents. They will be responsible for identifying putative channel targets cloning these receptors and expressing them in heterologous systems (either Xenopus laevis oocytes vertebrate or insect cell lines). Additional responsibilities will include assist with laboratory setup method development and mentoring students. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop independent research for a career in academia or industry participate in journal clubs and present research findings at regional and national professional conferences.
Ph.D. in Biological Science or a related field
Demonstrated ability to express and record ion channels in Xenopus oocytes using patch clamp electrophysiology
Experience in molecular biology including cloning of ion channels and the preparation of cRNA
