Job Description

Basic Details:

  • Must be able to work shifts between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday
  • This position is in-person in Bernardine Hall Suite 103.
  • The student must be enrolled full time during the fall and spring semesters
  • Expectations for dress/attire for this position are business casual.

Summary of Duties:

GA will play a vital role in advancing the services and initiatives of the Office of Career Development and positively impact the offices ability to align with and provide support to realizing key pillars of the Alvernia University Strategic Plan.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct one-on-one and small group career advising and coaching support services to undergraduate and graduate students (ex: resume/cover letter review mock interviews etc.).
  • Support the promotion management internship posting and student-facing aspects of the Apprenticeship to Degree program.
  • Help advance offices strategic services and initiatives and be responsive to the needs of the offices partners and stakeholders.
  • Participate in office meetings trainings and other activities.
  • Support marketing and advertising efforts.
  • Support Alvernias university-wide career fairs and collaborative events.
  • Manage email account and respond to stakeholder inquiries.
  • Assist in posting and advertising internship and job opportunities using Handshake.
  • Host career presentations and workshops.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professional reliability.
  • Adhere to the SOLAR approach to our daily work with students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree and current enrollment in an Alvernia graduate program.
  • Commitment to the mission statement core Franciscan values and goals of Alvernia University.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Experience or flexibility to pick up new software (ex: Handshake Canva Photoshop etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to contribute to problem-solving and discussions about implementation of strategy.
  • Ability to prioritize work be highly effective in time management and multi-task as necessary.
  • Ability to anticipate needs be self-directed demonstrate initiative and put others first.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Graduate program of 2 years is preferred.
