    About the Position
    This general posting is to generate an applicant pool for algebra teaching positions. Teachers will be working with current 8-grade students who are significantly behind in math to help prepare them for Algebra 1 in high school. Teachers will be expected on-site at 7:45 AM to support students arrival and stay until 12:15 PM for student departure.

    While applications will be accepted from both internal and external applicants preference will be given to internal applicants. A valid Washington State Teaching Certificate is required for these positions.

    Approximately 4 positions will be available.

    Summer School Teacher Responsibilities
    The Summer School Teacher duties include:
    • Attend the required orientation and training date TBD
    • Implement summer curriculum instruction and assessment program
    • Monitoring student progress
      • Helping students set daily goals for coursework
      • Following through with students to ensure they have met daily goals
    • Responding promptly to student questions
    • Reading and responding to email frequently
    • Monitoring assessments
    • Communicating with families and students
    • Maintaining consistent office hours for students and families
    • Other job duties as needed

    Key Information/Dates
    • Staff Orientation and Training June 26-272025 (one of these days Exact date TBD) (Training will take place at Alderwood Middle School in varying degrees based on prior experience and training.)
    • Summer School session runs June 30 2025- July 24 2025 (M-Th 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

    Salary
    Hourly position paid via timesheet: $30.80 per hour 4.5 hours a day for student support (there may be a need for part-time teaching) and $26.76 per hour for required training.

    Required Qualifications:
    Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.

    A Complete Summer School Application Includes:

    While fulfilling the responsibilities of this job the employee is expected to navigate various school and classroom environments. The role may involve assisting students who need physical support or exhibit challenging behaviors. The role requires communicating with others regularly. Tasks may include frequent manual work using hands or fingers as well as occasional reaching bending or twisting. The position may require moving objects regularly weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Visual requirements include performing close-range tasks and adjusting focus as necessary.
