Introduction to Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Creative Technologist with an engineering background who excels at rapidly prototyping and testing AI web-based and other concepts. Your primary responsibility will be turning business challenges into minimal experimental technical solutions that can validate or invalidate hypotheses within exceptionally short timeframes. This role requires someone who can build quickly test effectively analyze results objectively and make clear recommendations about whether to pivot persevere or abandon concepts. Youll need to balance creativity with practicality building just enough to learn while resisting the urge to perfect unproven ideas. Success in this role means developing numerous prototypes most of which will failbut failing quickly and inexpensively to discover the few breakthroughs worth pursuing further.

Were looking for someone who can build quickly test thoroughly andmost importantlymake clear unbiased determinations about which technological approaches deserve further investment. The ideal candidate finds satisfaction in the process of discovery itself understanding that a well-documented failed prototype often provides more business value than a polished implementation of an unproven concept. We encourage applications from individuals who have demonstrated the ability to balance creative exploration with pragmatic evaluation.

  • Quickly create code and/or no-code prototypes to test solutions often completing initial versions in days rather than weeks.
  • Stay on top of emerging technologies and trends to strategically incorporate into new business solutions with a particular emphasis on practical application of AI.
  • Design and implement tests to validate key assumptions behind each prototype.
  • Make clear recommendations about which prototypes to invest in or abandon.
  • Balance speed with quality for valid testing results without extra polish.
  • Implement front-end experiences with basic functionality for concept testing.
  • Develop modular prototypes that can be easily modified based on feedback.
  • Document insights from experiments to build organizational knowledge.
  • Communicate technical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Train team members in prototyping methods and evaluation techniques.
  • Establish metrics to objectively determine prototype success or failure.
  • Utilize technology only when it serves a clear purpose.
  • Building sharing and using design components and libraries (design libraries design systems) for rapid prototyping
  • Helping the company get better at rapidly testing ideas by creating frameworks design kits testing playbooks etc.
  • The ability to move between projects quickly adjusting to shifting needs timing and goals.
  • Helping to ensureproduct teams are discovering and aligning solutions to the needs of patients partners and providers
  • Building domainknowledge by aligning with thebusiness and developing a deepunderstanding of howit works (forindividuals at AstraZeneca and in the industry)
  • Help teams be divergent think deeply address underlyingcorollariesand causes and become comfortable with ambiguity
  • Embedding a sense of empathy and connection across the team for who theyre building for (and why theyre building it)
  • Guiding teams to think furtherinto the future and actively propose new areas ofopportunity (what arent theythinking about that theyshould be)
  • Passionate about exploring new technologies and tools for rapid prototyping
  • Building solutions not just screens (a solution could be a new process tool input bot or other medium)

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • High school or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Front-End Engineering or Product Design
  • Rapid web-based prototype development with quick turnaround examples.
  • Comfort with AI coding tools.
  • Knowledge of emerging AI Engineering techniques trends and best practices.
  • Able to take big ideas and break them down into testable bite-sized chunks.
  • Expert knowledge of web technologies and advanced skills in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks (React Vue Svelte).
  • Expert knowledge of git.
  • Broad interest and ability to work across a variety of technologies including web mobile IoT AR/VR among others.
  • Experience in prototype testing evaluation and defining success metrics.
  • Extensive experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies across multiple platforms
  • Ability to make evidence-based decisions on technical approaches.
  • Familiarity with tools and processes that accelerate prototyping.
  • Portfolio showing various experimental approaches and iterations.
  • Proficient in throwaway code without over-engineering early concepts.
  • Knowledge of no-code/low-code tools and when to use them effectively.
  • Excellent communication to explain technical decisions and results.
  • Access to rapid prototyping tools and testing platforms.
  • Performance metrics based on insights generated rather than code produced.
  • Experience of identification and implementation of innovative technology solutions
  • Evidence of leading developing and delivering innovative solutions
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Graduate level education in a related degree (HCI UX Computer Science Engineering etc)
  • Rich experience in helping to discover and define technology solutions in both clinical and commercial settings
  • Experience in the pharma or healthcare industry
  • Experience working across diverse global teams

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $156047.20 to $234070.80.Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience. In addition our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles)to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles) and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program 401(k) plan; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and health benefits including medical prescription drug dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay(as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
