Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSSrelated work Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada by Canadians.

The Intern Facilities Operations Maintenance is responsible for assist the maintenance department in improving develop and standardize all maintenance processes to be aligned with the internal policies of Seaspan. As well as assisting the facilities maintenance planning department which is responsible for the overall continuous development of the maintenance and reliability programs to ensure maximum availability and reliability of equipment.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at50 Pemberton North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Develop and implement Predictive techniques plans on critical equipment.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive maintenance plans for routine preventive condition based and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Audit and improve current maintenance plans.
  • Assist in developing Bill of Material of critical equipment.
  • Assist in developing and handling the facility maintenance and reliability program.
  • Develop SOP of the maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the maintenance planners on auditing the quality of data on the CMMS system.
  • Assist in developing a Maintenance system development plan.
  • Assist in the migration of databases.
  • Scheduling shipping of repairable items to maintain critical spares.

  • Enrollment in a degree or diploma in mechanical engineering.
  • General knowledge on predictive techniques as vibrations thermography oil Analysis etc.
  • Data interpretation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work with others as a standout colleague.
  • Organized with strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with subcontractors suppliers and professionals.
  • Computer proficiency in the Windows environment.
  • Study field within a technical field
  • Curiosity about computer applications.
  • Self-starter.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday September 8th 2025.

End Date of Internship: Friday December 19th 2025 (4-Months) or Friday May 1st 2026 (8-Months).
