Job Description
Focal Point Metal Fab is hiring! We are looking to add a Brake Press Operator to our team. We are looking for someone that enjoys a smaller shop and has a mig welding background as well. Focal Point Metal Fab is a custom metal fabrication shop located in Spring Lake Michigan. Through Laser cutting and welding we supply many different industries with fabricated metal parts. For over 16 years we have been taking pride in quality quick turnaround excellence and speedy customer service.
Some of your duties as a Brake Press Operator may include:
- Set up and operate Accurpress to form various mild steel and stainless steel parts according to production specifications and blueprints
- Inspect finished parts for quality accuracy and conformance to design specifications make adjustments to equipment as necessary
- Perform routine maintenance on press brake machine including bed centering and back gauge alignment
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues such as misalignment material feed problems or inconsistencies
- Collaborate with production team members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient scheduling of press brake machines
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings production runs and maintenance activities
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures including proper handling of materials and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize laser cutting processes and reduce material waste
- Assist in training new operators or team members on press brake operations and safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with supervisors engineers and other departments to address production issues and meet project deadlines
As a Brake Press Operator with us ideally you will have the following experience and abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in a related field is preferred
- 1-2 years of experience operating CNC press brake machines or similar CNC equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Mig Welding experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Proficient in reading blueprints technical drawings and production specifications
- Basic knowledge of press brake processes materials (e.g. steel aluminum) and equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues.
