What will you do

At Sun Life you will work as Senior Specialist Mainframe DevOps. If you are eager to contribute to innovative DevEx projects we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team.

Our engineering career framework helps our engineers to understand the scope collaborative reach and levers for impact at every job role and defines the key behaviors and deliverables specific to ones role and team and plan their career with Sun Life.

Key responsibilities:

• Set-up and maintain CI/CD pipeline for multiple mainframe environments using tools like Bitbucket Jenkins IBM Dependency Based Build IBM DevOps Deploy IBM Developer for zOS etc.

• Suggest and develop enhancements to the CI/CD pipeline

• Analyze investigate and recommend solutions for continuous improvements process enhancements identify pain points and more efficient workflows. Create templates standards and models to facilitate future implementations and adjust priorities when necessary

• Show initiative be accepting of responsibility and be accountable for results. Confidently speak up bring people together and rally the team towards a common goal

• Train and guide development teams with use of the CI/CD pipelin and the preparation of releases for production. This may include assisting in the automation of performance tests validation of infrastructure requirements and guiding the team with respect to system decisions

• Create or improve the automated deployment processes techniques and tools

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to DevOps pipelines

• Ensure information security standards and requirements are incorporated into all solutions

• Contribute to our DevEx community

• Stay current with trends in emerging technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life

• Occasional weekend or evening may be required

Key experience required:

• 8 years of software development experience with full application development life cycle and systems integration experience

• Excellent working knowledge of the IBM OS/390 mainframe environment

• Self sufficient and experienced with either COBOL or PL/1 is an asset

• Excellent problem analysis and trouble shooting skills

• Strong leadership planning organizational and consulting skills

• Knowledge of Insurance and Wealth Investments Financial Service industries

• A security and automation mindset

• Experience with source code management tools such as Bitbucket Git TFS

• Experience with continuous Integration and delivery (CI/CD)

• Understanding of Agile methodology (i.e. Kanban Scrum SAFe Digital Enterprise)

Good to have:

• Knowledge of CHARM GB and/or GRS

• Senior SunLife mainframe experience
