Job Description

Overview
The OPD Consultant Ophthalmologist plays a critical role in patient care providing comprehensive eye examinations diagnosis and treatment for various ocular conditions. Situated at a leading healthcare facility in Yelahanka Bangalore this position is pivotal for ensuring the delivery of high-quality ophthalmic services to the community. The consultant will work in an outpatient department (OPD) addressing the needs of patients with diverse ocular issues from routine vision assessments to complex surgical interventions. As a leader in the ophthalmic team the consultant is responsible for educating patients about their eye health prescribing appropriate treatments and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. The role demands a compassionate approach alongside technical expertise ensuring that every patient receives personalized attention and evidence-based care. In a rapidly advancing field the consultant must stay updated with the latest advancements in ophthalmology to provide state-of-the-art medical care.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for patients.
  • Diagnose ocular conditions through clinical assessments.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Perform surgical procedures including cataract surgery glaucoma surgery and refractive surgery.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions for various eye conditions.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients on eye health maintenance and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment and imaging technology.
  • Maintain updated patient records and documentation of treatments.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in ophthalmology.
  • Assist in the management and treatment of emergencies in the ophthalmic field.
  • Lead community outreach programs to promote eye health.
  • Engage in scientific research and clinical trials when applicable.
Required Qualifications
  • Medical degree (MBBS) from a recognized institution.
  • Specialization in Ophthalmology (MD/DNB/DO).
  • Registered with the Medical Council of India.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Proficient in a variety of ophthalmic surgical techniques.
  • Strong understanding of ocular diseases and treatments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional education and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Empathetic and patient-centered approach to care.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations with composure.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
