We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Maintenance Technician to support pharmaceutical production operations on the U.S. East Coast. This role is responsible for calibrating and maintaining a wide range of instrumentation PLC and equipment critical to ensuring manufacturing quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calibrate instrumentation loops controllers recorders transmitters balances and other production devices. Parameters include (but are not limited to) temperature pressure weight force and humidity.
- Perform corrective maintenance on electrical and electronic systems used in formulation equipment (e.g. tablet compressors coaters mills blenders weighing systems fluid beds).
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance including inspections calibrations and scheduled equipment overhauls.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using analytical methods; identify root causes and implement effective lasting solutions.
- Conduct both mechanical and electrical repairs including adjustments and component fabrication.
- Collaborate with supervisors operators engineers and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Support equipment installations and modifications as part of cross-functional project teams.
- Ensure all work complies with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) standards.
- Accurately document maintenance activities in logs PM records work orders and permits.
- Respond to multiple maintenance issues simultaneously adjusting priorities based on production needs.
- Provide shift and weekend coverage as required by production demands.
- Participate in deviation investigations applying root cause analysis tools such as 5 Whys.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED or
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or a Technical discipline - Willingness to work onsite on the U.S. East Coast.
- Proven experience in equipment calibration and maintenance in a pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
- Understanding and operational familiarity with PC/PLC control systems.
- Thorough familiarity with the analysis and repair of electrical/electronic control systems.
- Working knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Understanding of concepts used in control system design and elementary programming is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and different shifts as needed.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all the following areas and certification/advanced training in at least 2 of the following:
- Mechanical maintenance
- Electrical Maintenance
- Instrumentation and Controls
