Job Description
Play a vital role in delivering advanced underwater defence electronics at ALTEN UK. Youll be involved in designing developing and fault diagnosing mission-critical hardware for secure maritime systems. As an Electronics Design Engineer you will work hands-on with PCB schematics and collaborate across engineering disciplines to support high-reliability projects. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and effectiveness of cutting-edge defence solutions.
Key Details:
- Location: On-site in Templecombe (Hybrid 3 days per week)
- Security Clearance: Must be SC Clearable (5 years UK residency minimum)
- Experience Level: 5 years in Electronics Hardware Design
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electronic hardware including PCB schematic capture and layout
- Perform detailed fault analysis and troubleshooting on complex circuits
- Produce and maintain technical documentation and design reviews
- Collaborate with firmware systems and mechanical teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Participate in safety and quality assurance processes relevant to defence standards
- Support system integration testing and validation in lab and operational environments
Qualifications :
Required Skills:
- Strong experience in Electronics Hardware Design for safety-critical systems
- Proficient with schematic capture and PCB tools (Altium OrCAD Mentor Graphics)
- Expertise in fault finding and analysis of analogue/digital electronics
- Knowledge of EMC signal integrity and power supply design principles
- Familiarity with defence or aerospace quality and safety standards
Required Experience & Education:
- Minimum 5 years relevant electronics hardware design experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline
- OR relevant technical military background (e.g. Royal Navy REME RAF)
- Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (5 years UK residency minimum)
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments
- Familiarity with PCB design verification and fault diagnostic tools
