To be eligible for a sign-on bonus the candidate must not have worked as a probationary permanent or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.
Position is a Charge Nurse/Nurse Clinician located at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton NC which houses approximately 858 minimum and close custody male offenders. Employees in this class perform professional nursing work at the full-performance level providing direct patient care to individuals with varied health problems. Employees in this class serve as a lead nurse and typically work independently with other healthcare professionals. Work includes conducting nursing assessments; developing implementing and evaluating treatment plans; and providing patient care and education through case management. There is a greater emphasis in independent practice and advanced clinical knowledge/skills. Employees in this class administer medications and treatments as directed by a physician.The Charge Nurse position will provide Blood Borne Pathogen Training to all newly assigned offender janitors kitchen workers and maintenance workers. The Charge Nurse isresponsible for appropriate treatment and medical documentation and may assist the nursing supervisor by directly supervising licensed and unlicensed assigned nursing staff. Performs other related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Nurse Supervisor.

TheDivision of Comprehensive Health Servicesis dedicated to providing evidence-based compassionate and constitutionally consistent medical care to all offenders in custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians nurses behavioral health services dental services psychiatric services pharmacy services and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent acute routine and chronic health care as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison improving public health and decreasing recidivism.
