Job Description
Saint Josephs College of Maine invites applications for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach!
Position Description:
The Assistant Baseball Coach at Saint Josephs College will play a crucial role in developing student-athletes both on and off the field. This position involves assisting the head coach in planning and executing training sessions game strategies and player evaluations. The ultimate goal is to foster a competitive and supportive environment that encourages athletic excellence and personal growth. The Assistant Coach will also be responsible for promoting teamwork discipline and sportsmanship among the players. By contributing to the overall success of the baseball program the Assistant Coach will help shape the future of the student-athletes and the colleges athletic reputation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience in coaching or playing baseball.
- Strong knowledge of baseball techniques strategies and rules.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in sports management education or a related field.
- Experience in recruiting student-athletes and managing team dynamics.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head coach in developing and implementing practice plans and game strategies.
- Provide individual and group instruction to players to enhance their skills and performance.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Help manage team logistics including travel arrangements equipment maintenance and scheduling.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect teamwork and sportsmanship.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include:
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities which are essential for effectively instructing and motivating players.
- Organizational skills are vital for managing practice schedules game preparations and team logistics.
- Leadership skills will be utilized to inspire and guide student-athletes in their personal and athletic development.
- Analytical skills will be important for evaluating player performance and making strategic decisions during games.
- Preferred skills such as experience in recruiting and knowledge of sports management will enhance the overall effectiveness of the coaching staff and contribute to the programs success.
