The high level:

The Accounting Associate position is an important utility member of the Accounting team and assists in the day-to-day delivery of the organizations main accounting policies procedures and contracts. Intermittently the positions secondary responsibilities include supporting other Accounting functions based on departmental needs. This position reports to the Revenue Accounting Manager but works with every member of the accounting team. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented self-starter who is interested in a career in nonprofit accounting.

This position is hybrid and requires candidates to reside in the San Francisco Bay Area CA. This role requires a trip to the national Oakland office on Tuesday and Thursday each week for administrative tasks including deposits and distributing mail as needed to the recipients.

About you!

Youll be successful in this role if you:

  • Have 1-3 years of related nonprofit accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Have a bachelors degree related to Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience
  • Reside in San Francisco Bay Area California
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent computer skills Microsoft Office skills including advanced Excel skills (e.g. formulas pivot tables VLOOKUP)
  • Have experience working with Sage Intacct accounting software.
  • Ability to self-manage and start with minimal guidance and takes pride in your work
  • Demonstrate an ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with excellent follow-up/tracking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Are flexible and adaptable.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a dynamic and collaborative work environment.
  • Display a deep belief in our mission and root your work in ourcore values.
  • Ability to prove eligibility to work legally in the U.S. and that you are at least 18 years of age.

Bonus Points if you:

  • Hold a Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Have experience working in a fast-paced non-profit environment
  • Are an advanced Microsoft Excel user who writes understands and manipulates formulas.
  • Have experience working in a virtual team environment.
  • Have experience with Concur Sage Intacct and Salesforce
