Summary of Job Duties:

The Instructor for the School of Literary and Performing Arts will report to the Director of the School of Literary and Performing Arts. The Instructor will teach the equivalency of four courses per semester (12IUs). Courses may include core offerings such as Mythology World Literature Introduction to Music and Introduction to Creative Writingas well as upper-level courses in literature or creative writing. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Masters degree or higher in English or related discipline;

  • Strong record of teaching at the college level.

Preferred Education or Experience:

  • Experience teaching upper-level literature or creative writing courses;

  • Ability to teach writing classes in composition;

  • Ability to teach Introductory Music Courses;

  • Ability to contribute to recruitment and retention efforts;

  • Ability to teach face-to-face courses as well as online courses;

  • Knowledge of secondary education teaching and observation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach the equivalency of four courses per semester;

  • Assist with school events and initiatives.

  • Content knowledge in literature and writing;

  • Excellent communication skills;

  • Collaborative leadership style;
