Job Description

Who We Are:CAMBA is a community of staff volunteers clients donors neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development Family Support Job Training & Employment Support Services Health Housing and Legal Services. We reach more than 73000 individuals and families including almost 13000 serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

CAMBAs Office of Mental Health (OHM) Supported Housing Program: CAMBAs OMH Supported Housing Program provides a total of 87 units of scattered site housing to individuals. The first program provides 70 units of housing to chronically homeless single adults who are eligible for SSI or SSD and suffer from Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or are diagnosed as Mentally Ill and Chemically Addicted (MICA). The second program provides 10 units of housing for SPMI individuals who reside in OMH psychiatric centers Article 28 inpatient hospitals residential treatment programs and adult homes. The third program provides 7 units of housing to individuals who are SPMI and have been residents of either OMH Psychiatric Centers or OMH operated residential programs for one year or longer. All apartments are in Brooklyn. Program clients receive case management services and limited assistance with their utility costs. Clients contribute 30% of their income for rent.


Position: Quality Assurance Specialist

Reports To: Program Manager for QA Data and Special Projects

Location: 19 Winthrop Street Brooklyn NY 11225

What The Quality Assurance Specialist Does:

  • Establish and implement quality assurance policies and protocols.
  • Research develop and maintain auditing tools and all related documentation.
  • Schedule and conduct internal program/subcontractor audits and report all results/findings to Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President.
  • Identify measurable program outcomes and performance targets.
  • Assist in the development of policies and protocols for program monitoring reporting and evaluation
  • Ensure staff achieve regulatory and programmatic compliance.
  • Provide performance-based management technical assistance and support to senior management and front-line staff.
  • Understand all aspects of contract requirements and policies and communicate this understanding to staff and adhere to all contract requirements and policies.
  • Develop and train staff on how to implement quality assurance and improvement measures and best practices.
  • Attend quality assurance related trainings for non-profit agencies citywide and relevant quality improvement conferences and networking opportunities.
  • Participate in preparation for facilitation and documentation of quality improvement meetings and projects.
  • Prepare draft evaluation reports audit reports contract reports and statistical information as requested by CAMBA management staff and for funder use.
  • Assist in the development administration of customer satisfaction surveys including processing of survey responses.
  • Assist with the planning of trainings and presentations.
  • Confer with Program Manager and/or other CAMBA management staff as needed regarding programmatic and personnel issues.
  • Maintain open communications with senior management.
  • Present preliminary findings to senior management and frontline staff as needed.
  • Participate in administrative and staff meetings.
  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders.
  • May draft and edit program reports and/or proposals by working collaboratively with CAMBAs Development staff.
  • May assist with the development and implementation of the outcome-based electronic performance management database.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree (B. A. or B. S.) and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Stay informed of best practices and new approaches related to Quality Assurance.
  • Must abide by strict ethical standards.
  • Must maintain Integrity objectivity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Good written & verbal communication.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Obtain Criminal History Checks (CHC) fingerprinting through the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice System).

Compensation: $55000 annually
When salary ranges are listed the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and includes but is not limited to experience education budget and/or program size internal equity skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (35 hours per week)
