Description

Summary:

Operates and maintains multiple chemical processing tanks to remove material from the surface of the forgings by immersion into the appropriate chemical solutions. The primary function of this position is to ensure parts are accurately processed to SIFCOs quality and work instructions to meet the customers specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSILITIES

  • Loads parts on baskets and racks in accordance with the technique sheets or supervisory instructions.
  • Immerses forgings in a succession of acid and water baths until the proper metal removal has been achieved.
  • Must maintain acid bath concentrations per specification requirements. Must be able to use calculations to determine additions to maintain concentrations.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and use measuring tools such as vernier calipers micrometers and rules.
  • Must maintain processing logs and complete processing paperwork per the customer requirements.
  • Verifies part quantities received for processing.
  • Ensure the department is clean and organized.
  • Operate tow motor to transport parts as required. (License Required)
  • Interface with shop employees and supervisors on a daily basis.
  • Enter production data into the computer system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Receives training in the handling of hazardous materials and wastes and the maintenance of records necessary in compliance with the EPA regulations. (Successfully pass Hazmat Certification Course)
  • Responds to hazardous waste spills occurring within the plant or department.
  • Pass Jaeger 1 eye examination.
  • Pass written test for blueprint reading inspection gauges and calculating math equations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to operate a tow motor.
  • Basic computer skills.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
