You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe School of Exercise Science and Sport is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science to begin on August 1 2025. Qualified candidates will hold a doctoral degree in Exercise Science or a related discipline conferred before August 2025 and demonstrate experience commensurate with the industry.
Responsibilities include providing quality instruction in a variety of undergraduate courses which could include but are not limited to Biomechanics Growth and Development Introduction to Physical Education Mind Body Health Personal Training Strength and Conditioning as well as practicums and internships. Teaching responsibilities also include advising students on degree completion research participation and supporting their progression to graduate programs or post-graduate success.
The position requires developing a research agenda that results in nationally refereed publications and presentations while collaborating on scholarly projects with faculty and students. Community service is also part of the position helping to enhance performance learning opportunities for students. Additionally the role requires contributing to the overall operation of the institution by participating in activities at the School College and University levels serving on committees and engaging with professional organizations.

The School of Exercise Science & Sport features a comprehensive program providing students with collaborative options that develop their personal relationships with faculty mentors. Performance learning opportunities that combine classroom theory with hands-on experiences are available across all programs. Our Exercise Science and Sport Pavilion provides a central facility to study Exercise Science Physical Education Sport & Recreation Management and Athletic Training. The modernized space features a state-of-the-art athletic training room dedicated to the most up-to-date training practices an exercise physiology lab with equipment for research opportunities and a 2000 square foot versatile multi-use space that supports endless hands-on learning opportunities.
Required Qualifications
1. A doctoral degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Candidates who are ABD may be considered but an expected doctoral completion date of January 1 2026 or before is required.
2. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position as mandated by state law.
Preferred Certifications
1. ACSM NSCA or NCSF Strength and Conditioning Coaching
2. ACSM NSCA or NCSF Personal Training
