Starting Salary:$1745.46 Bi-weekly.(In accordance with current spending restrictions an internal promotion into the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employees current rate whichever is higher.)

DESCRIPTION:

The Office of Fidelity Accountability and Support is seeking an individual with knowledge and experience with Florida Department of Juvenile Justice who possesses a desire to impact best practices and assist in ensuring accurate administration of risk assessments for Department-involved youth. This person will spend the majority of time communicating with department and provider staff to address risk assessment quality and accuracy. They will be self-motivated able to work independently and in a team setting and able to travel overnight.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct ongoing inter-rater reliability activities for all staff using risk assessments this includes Department employees and contracted provider staff. Implement and oversee annual interrater reliability studies to identify problem areas in assessment accuracy and staff who may need retraining. Annual interrater reliability studies are required in each county in the incumbents assigned Region. Work in collaboration with Research and Data Integrity to create the SPSS syntax to compile the data analyze the data and correct the data.

Complete work with individual offices to improve risk assessment accuracy and inter-rater reliability. Provide on-site assistance with each office and/or program in the region on a quarterly basis. Communicate and work in conjunction with regional staff program monitors quality improvement staff staff associated with other program improvement initiatives and other stakeholders concerning risk assessment questions and needs to be directed to Risk Assessment Coordinator.

Perform a regular review of data reports to identify potential discrepancies in risk assessment data oversight of field staff. Review and correct items when indicated. Review confidential juvenile records/facility reporting (i.e. CCC and JJIS Reports) for information pertaining to risk assessment processes. Utilize restricted information/data to determine whether appropriate action was taken and potential need for re-training or other assistance. Gather information related to Juvenile Justice Information System improvements needed and monitor progress made to improve risk assessment processes.

Promote data reports available on the website tableau and other means to ensure staff region-wide have up-to-date and relevant information to enhance risk assessment fidelity.

Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of web site content related to risk assessment.

Perform ongoing coaching and technical assistance to Juvenile Probation Officers in response to ad-hoc requests and problems identified through the fidelity monitoring process.

Conduct case reviews to determine areas for improvement and retraining. Provide subsequent subject matter expert assistance to address the root cause.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES INCLUDING UTILIZATION OF EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

Knowledge of inferential statistical methods social science research methods and standards of evidence.

Knowledge of criminogenic risk factors basic principles of cognitive behavioral therapy motivational interviewing techniques and evidence-based practice.

Knowledge in the area of program design and operation.

Knowledge of basic management principles.

Knowledge in the area of implementation process and program readiness for change.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to understand and apply rules regulations policies and procedures relating to operational activities.

Ability to provide clear and precise directions.

Ability to gather and organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports documents and other written materials.

Ability to work independently and to plan organize and coordinate work assignments.

Expertise in time management.

Ability to assess training needs.

Knowledge of the principles methods and techniques of adult learning.

Ability to use desktop and laptop computers tablets cell phones and various audio-visual equipment and the MS Office software suite.

Ability to use JJIS including the PMM system.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to travel throughout the state on short notice as needed.

Ability to maintain confidential information.

Ability to take lead role on projects.

Skill in building interpersonal relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelors in criminology sociology or a related social service field.

Preference will be given to candidateswith at least two years of experience in the juvenile justice field.

Experience using department assessment tools to assess youth and manage cases (PAT/CAT/RAY).

Familiarity with Administrative Rule QI Standards and CAT Business Rules.

SPECIAL NOTES:

All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check criminal background checks (state local and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care positions.

When identified on a position description avalid drivers license is initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state drivers license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason work permits (Business purpose/Employment/education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
