Description of Work
*This position is 100% Federally Funded*
This position is responsible for regional nursing activities as an advanced nursing consultant for tuberculosis control. The nurse consultant will provide consultation and technical assistance primarily to local health departments in multiple counties of Western North Carolina. The nurse consultant will promote quality assurance by monitoring and assessing tuberculosis control programs activities assigned to local health departments on a regular basis. The nurse consultant also offers their expertise to community members healthcare systems and the general public regarding diagnosis treatment and prevention of tuberculosis as well as promoting developing improving and coordinating tuberculosis programs consistent with the goal of eradicating tuberculosis.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a nurse supervisor.

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:- Demonstrate basic working knowledge of the current principles standards and practices of tuberculosis control including clinical management pharmaceutical drugs used to treat tuberculosis quality of care contact investigation and relevant State and Federal laws
- Demonstrate working knowledge with regard to tuberculosis control in clinical skills and assessments and current recommendations and guidelines set by regulatory agencies
- Experienced in answering questions in oral or written format from nursing and medical staff and provide consultation on tuberculosis progression treatment care and infection control measures
- Demonstrate considerable working knowledge of advanced communication skills both verbally and written to internal and external stakeholders and agencies
Management Preferences:- Experience managing tuberculosis patient
- Knowledge of epidemiologic methods and procedures surveillance techniques data analysis and statistical methods
- Experience with program planning evaluation and quality control methods
- Ability to review and revise when appropriate various tuberculosis related forms documents and policies and procedures for state and local use including the North Carolina Tuberculosis Policy manual.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and to work effectively independently
