We are looking for a Process Engineer at our Madisonville KY facility.

Purpose:To provide resources for the Glass Fibre Tissue business area focusing on improved product stability and runnability at the location and for the customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies OSHA regulations ISO1400 QS9000 standards and policies.
  • Participate in quarterly Safety/Quality meetings and safety training sessions.
  • Play a key role in maintaining the facility and improving product quality and cost structure through the implementation of sound engineering or process controls to stabilize and/or minimize the variation in the process.
  • Collect analyze and monitor data on the process to ensure continuous reduction in product variability through sound statistical techniques.
  • Prepare for support and monitor product process or material trials reporting results to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Identify losses or costs in the manufacturing processes or materials and lead efforts to reduce through a continuous improvement process.
  • Instruct and facilitate the use of problem-solving techniques and tools ranging from trend charting formalized problem solving standard operating practices and designed experiments to statistical process control.
  • Assist and coordinate various program essential to manufacturing procedures.
  • Monitor and report on process and machine trials.
  • Provide supporting information for resolution of customer issues while optimizing production and utilization of human resources machines and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in chemical or mechanical engineering with zero to three years experience.
  • Experience in the Pulp/Paper Industry preferred.
  • Project coordination experience preferred.
  • Understand and follow Ahlstroms policies and procedures.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and self-motivationwhile fostering a team atmosphere.
  • Requires ability to be consistently at work and on time on scheduled workdays.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Controls (SPC).
  • Chemical/mechanical/mathematical aptitude.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills.
  • Sound communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills strategic planning and influencing skills problem solving organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Requires the ability to use multiple computer programs/systems including MS Office Suite.

Physial Demands:

  • Significant time spent on the manufacturing floor.
  • Dedicated keyboard and computer screen work.
  • The employee is frequently required to bend stoop and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must possess the ability to see hear talk and use fingers to manipulate controls.
  • The employee must be able to stand and walk on a variation of surfaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders work at heights and in close-proximity to operating equipment.
  • Requires the ability to travel overnight including international travel.
