Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Supervisor to join our team and support our Quality Management System (QMS) which operates under ISO 9001 and API Q1 standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring product quality throughout the production process solving production issues and working closely with cross-functional teams to maintain high standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in quality assurance process validation and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Auditing:

  • Support and ensure adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) operating under ISO 9001 and API Q1.
  • Act as a key contributor in monitoring and improving product quality by identifying deficiencies and implementing root cause corrective actions.
  • Assist with quality audits as a trained internal auditor and ensure compliance with all applicable standards and procedures.
  • Maintain and manage technical files ensuring that all quality documents are up-to-date and accessible.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing company safety policies and industry standards ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections identifying potential risks and implementing corrective actions to address safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements including waste disposal energy usage and emissions.

Budgeting & Cost Management:

  • Monitor and control costs associated with materials parts labor and external service providers ensuring budgetary goals are met.

Collaboration & Problem-Solving:

  • Work closely with Operations Engineering and Maintenance teams to solve production-related quality issues and improve processes.
  • Support Engineering Quality and Production departments to ensure a smooth transition of products from design to production.
  • Facilitate and coach the continued deployment of the PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) process across the plant and distribution center.

Process & Test Method Validation:

  • Support and validate methods for sampling inspection testing and evaluation of products.
  • Develop execute and support protocols for new or existing process and test method validation activities.
  • Ensure successful standardization of tooling and processes to reduce setup times and increase operational efficiency.

Inspection & Testing Oversight:

  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection testing and evaluation to ensure the highest quality product standards are met.
  • Audit in-process inspections and specifications from production schedules to ensure adherence to established quality standards.

Product Compliance & Certification:

  • Oversee quality holds releases restricted sales scrapping of products and ensure accurate tracking and final disposition.
  • Maintain and provide information for the rope certification system ensuring all necessary certifications are up-to-date and accessible to service centers and customers.
  • Ensure that special contractual requirements are met and effectively communicated across departments.

Recordkeeping & Data Management:

  • Administer the distribution and calibration of measuring instruments ensuring compliance with calibration schedules and proper documentation.
  • Manage rope testing verification and rope-breaking strength files issuing necessary rope certifications as required.
  • Support the tracking and proper disposition of quality-hold items.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support by ensuring test data is accurately entered into the appropriate database and work closely with the Plant Testers to track progress.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of tool room and tool room personnel to include; tooling return and delivery cleaning maintenance upkeep and ordering of all necessary materials to ensure plant is adequately equipped to support production operations.
  • Oversee daily operations of testing area and test personnel.

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering Engineering Technology or five years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Safety Focused Actions at all times in the workplace
  • Superior computer skills with abilities to easily navigate MS Office Suite with particular focuses on PowerPoint Excel and data analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees ranging from the production floor to executive management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react to changing and heightened priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment including standing for extended periods and lifting light to moderate loads
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise temperature variations and moving machinery

  • Personal protective equipment including safety glasses hearing protection gloves and steel-toed safety shoes
  • Strand and Wire rope of various diameters and lengths on reels or in coils empty or unassembled reels paper lagging strips tags seizing wire blocking thimbles.
  • Rewinding machines stanchions shafts collars bushings rope cutters measuring devices fork trucks banding equipment welders and various hand tools.

Eligibility

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • An applicant must complete a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment.  A criminal conviction will not be an automatic bar to employment.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
