As a Team Lead Finished Goods you will be responsible for supporting the supervisor in the assignment of tasks organization of workflows and act on behalf of the supervisor on his/her absence. The Team Lead will assist members of the team troubleshoot challenges faced during their regular activities. Additionally the Team Lead is responsible for the daily retrieval and storage of chemical compounds from inventory or weighing chemical compounds to fulfil internal and external demand. The Team Lead will foster a working environment that is clean and tidy fair positive and driven to continuously improve.
Key Responsibilities involve two main aspects:
Maintain a High Level of Safety
- Understand and foresee and report possible safety issues.
- Abide by health and safety guidelines prescribed by governing bodies and the TRC Environmental Health and Safety Committee.
- Sustain 5S and general housekeeping of work area.
- Promote a safe working environment.
- Work in a manner that does not jeopardize the safety of self or co-workers.
- Work safely and follow company safety policy and procedures and completing regular quality product checks.
- Adhere to the department 5S standards.
Receive/Retrieve Correct Chemical Compounds Weigh and Verify Orders
- Conduct picking activities of chemical compounds from inventory for weighing and packaging as required.
- Ensure all chemical compounds are returned and stored appropriately following chemical segregation logic.
- Carefully and accurately weigh chemicals as required.
- Use appropriate containers and follow weighing instructions.
- Inspect and verify orders and product labelling before final packaging.
- Prioritize chemical products to be picked according to First in First Out (FIFO)
- Report any loss or missing items to the Finished Goods supervisor.
- Communicate any potential issues to the Finished Goods supervisor.
- Ensure that all incoming new products that pass Quality get properly labelled and stored according to appropriate storage conditions.
Act as a Resource to TRC Leadership and Supervision
- Assign and prioritize work to Finished Goods employees as instructed by the supervisor.
- In support of the Supervisor Finished Good provide strategic guidance to other members of the group.
- In support of the Supervisor Finished Goods give technical guidance to other members of the team.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Spend varying amounts of time in walk-in freezers and fridge where many chemicals are stored.
- Working closely with chemical compounds including ones that are potentially toxic or classified as Dangerous Goods and be treated accordingly.
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while handling chemicals such as a respirator which requires fit testing. Clean shaving is required to be compliant with this PPR requirement.
- Must be available for the following shift schedule time:
- 9:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday.
- Must be able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Role Dimensions
- Works with production Lab Supervisors to issue and receive non-controlled chemicals.
- Works with the Customer Service Department to fulfill orders.
- Works with other members of the Finished Goods and Shipping & Logistics teams on processing and fulfilling customer orders and internal requirements.
- Works with Analytical to assist in getting released stock.
- Works with Environment Health & Safety team regarding environmental health and safety issues and policies.
- May require working with the Compliance Team to ensure compliance of handling regulated inventory.
Qualifications :
- Minimum College diploma or BSc in Chemistry.
- 1-2 years of working experience in the Finished Goods Department is an asset.
- Good planning & organizational skills.
- Have the ability to do picking activities when required.
- Have the ability to do weighing activities when required.
- Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
- Previously worked with a balance with good knowledge of measuring units.
- Good command of the English language.
- Excellent team player.
- Self-starter task oriented with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Independently solves problems within his/her scope.
