Job Description

The position of R&D Dispensing Technician requires individuals to work with Study Directors Associate Toxicologists Analytical Chemists Comparative Medicine and Formulation Scientists in conducting non-clinical laboratory studies as directed by the study protocol. This position is in the Toxicology Dispensing Laboratory in the Pre-Clinical Safety function.

The R&D Dispensing Technician has sufficient technical background/training to execute accurate formulation preparations per SOPs and protocols. He/she is proficient in the use and understanding of laboratory equipment possesses good oral and written communication skills and is precise in the collection maintenance and documentation of data for non-clinical laboratory studies. Also a working knowledge of troubleshooting test compound formulations is preferred.

Technicians conduct formulation preparations and are adept for attention to detail and accuracy in preparing formulations to match formulation instructions and the study protocol. The candidate should possess an excellent skill set for recording and maintaining data and working in a GLP laboratory environment. Special technique training may be implemented based on business needs. Providing support for toxicology technicians and animal handling on studies may be involved. Technicians will also be assigned various group administrative responsibilities laboratory coordination shipping test materials and training functions.

The R&D Technician is expected to comply with procedures set forth in SOPs GLP guidelines DEA policies protocols and/or other directives issued by the Study Director or management regarding non-clinical laboratory studies. The technician is expected to perform his/her function and responsibilities with the highest regard for quality and timeliness. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulation preparation support and troubleshooting
  • Maintenance of the dispensing lab equipment and compound inventory
  • Coordination of shipping test materials for use on toxicology studies
  • Excellent record keeping and documentation skills
  • Training in new techniques
  • Comply with all guidelines (SOPs GLP DEA and other policies)
  • Occasional animal handling on toxicology/comparative medicine studies
  • Can hire at different levels commensurate with experience.

Qualifications :

  • High School/GED is required and at least 3 years prior technical experience in area(s) of specialty
  • Technical training completion/certification or associates degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience
  • BS/BA degree is preferred
  • Training in General Chemistry is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements
  • Communication Skills- Ability to concisely communicate key issues to stakeholders
  • Analytical Skills- Ability to assess issues that arise seek multiple perspectives gather more information as needed and identify key issues that need to be addressed
  • Computer Literacy- Basic competence of spreadsheets word processing and email and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems and purchasing systems

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. Salary: $23.00 - $41.50/hour

  • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
