Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Ensures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to departments policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulative requirements. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care.
PRN Status Clause:
This is a PRN as-needed position you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.
Additional Job Description
Education: Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
License/Certification: Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) with ASCP or eligible for certification; which must be obtained within 1 year of hire date.
