The goal of the Assistant Superintendent position is to provide high-level leadership and support toensure the effective implementation and oversight of programs and services across the district. This roleenhances internal responsiveness facilitates sustained strategic planning and maintains alignment withthe districts mission. By assuming key operational and strategic functions the Assistant Superintendentwill help ensure the district continues to grow innovate and meet the evolving needs of its schools andcommunities.
Work Schedule:
7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week 260 days per year
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Masters degree or higher in educational administration or related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant and successful administrative experience with the appropriate certification. Preferred expertise in the following areas that are supported by VBISD: Special Education Career & Technical Education Instructional Services Technology Services Finance & Operations Multilingual & Migrant Services.
Skills:
- Proven ability to align curriculum instruction and assessment to improve student outcomes in Special Education CTE Multilingual Services and instructional programming
- Strong operational leadership with expertise in school finance budgeting and resource management including knowledge of school accounting practices
- Effective team leader with excellent organizational skills prioritization strategies and the initiative to manage complex projects across departments
- Highly skilled in professional verbal and written communication with the ability to maintain confidentiality work under pressure and attend to details
- Demonstrates flexibility collaboration and leadership in team environments while being self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal direction
- Known for a friendly respectful demeanor and the ability to serve as a positive representative and face of the organization
- Visionary and strategic thinker with a track record of successfully implementing large-scale initiatives in instructional technologymultilingual/migrant services and student support systems
- Committed to excellence equity and stakeholder engagement in the delivery of high-quality educational programs for all learners
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide Leadership and Oversight
Lead and manage the development implementation and continuous improvement of programs and services across assigned departments to ensure alignment with the districts mission goals and compliance requirements.
- Supervise and Support Departmental Administrators
Assist in the supervision of directors and coordinators providing guidance professional development and performance evaluations to ensure effective leadership across all service areas.
- Lead Strategic Planning and Program Development
Assist directors with the design and implementation of strategic initiatives that improve student outcomes enhance program quality and promote innovation in instructional services technology and specialized student programs.
- Ensure Fiscal Responsibility
Serve as an advisor for the Superintendent and Director of Finance & Operations with budget development monitoring and financial reporting for multiple departments ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to school finance regulations.
- Foster Cross-Department Collaboration
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between instructional operational and support service teams to ensure coordinated and cohesive service delivery.
- Engage Stakeholders and Build Partnerships
Serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders including school leaders community organizations and families to support district initiatives and build strong partnerships.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance
Assist with monitoring and compliance of all federal state and local regulations across all assigned departments including special education law career and technical education standards and grant requirements.
- Model Professionalism and Organizational Integrity
Uphold high standards of ethics confidentiality and professionalism while modeling the districts core values of Respect Integrity Compassion and Excellence.
- Serve as a Visible and Approachable Leader
Represent the district at events meetings and in the community with a welcoming and respectful demeanor reinforcing trust and confidence in district leadership. - Additional Responsibilities Perform other tasks duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent including serving as the organizational leader in the absence of the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment: As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
