Job Description

Overview

The City of Gresham is inviting qualified applicants to apply for an Engineer 1 position in the Transportation Engineering division of Environmental Services. The primary purpose of this role is to perform engineering work including the design and preparation of plans specifications and estimates for transportation capital projects. The selected individual will manage projects with varying degrees of complexity with oversight from more experienced engineering team members.

This position will remain open until filled. First review of applications will take place the week of June 232025.

Position Description

  • Design and deliver locally funded Capital Improvement Program(CIP) Public Works Projects.This position is required to design and produce engineering plans specifications and estimates for transportation public works construction projects. This position provides all levels of management services for construction and engineering public works projects. The successful candidate will prepare technical drawings construction plans calculations engineering studies and reports; conduct research analyze data and formulate recommendations. Through these activities and under oversight within the divisions engineering team the individual in this position would be gaining the experience necessary to qualify for Professional Engineer licensure in the State of Oregon.
  • Support design and delivery of Federally fundedCapital Improvement Program(CIP) Public Works Projects.This position would work under the direction of a project manager on assigned tasks related to design and delivery of Federally funded CIP Public Works Projects. The primary support emphasis is to design and produce engineering plans specifications and estimates in the preliminary engineering phase of the project although their involvement may also extend to other project phases.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree*

*Any combination of qualifying education training and/or experience to reach an equivalency of 4-5 years will be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain PE when eligible
  • Experience in using AutoCAD Civil 3D modeling and corridors functionality
  • Experience in leading or overseeing design work on transportation capital projects

Driving Matrix:You will be disqualified from this process if you possess any of the following driving infractions:
  • A major traffic offense or accident that results in death or major injury.
  • Driving under the influence (DUI) offense within the last 5 years.
  • Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one- year period.
  • Have more than 2 accidents within a 3-year period.
