Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced part-time Entitlements and Community Engagement Manager to lead stakeholder engagement and local entitlement efforts for energy storage projects across the U.S. This position will play a critical role in building and maintaining support in communities where projects are developed permitted and operated. Working closely with internal teamsDevelopment Origination Legal Government Affairsthis role will help ensure smooth project execution through proactive outreach permitting insight and strategic community partnerships.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in permitting stakeholder engagement or public affairs for energy infrastructure with a strong understanding of how to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of standaloneenergy storage projects particularly in urban and suburban communities.


Details:

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community engagement and entitlement strategies for standalone and co-locatedenergy storage projects.
  • Serve as the point of contact for community stakeholders including local governments residents landowners and organizations throughout the development and operational phases.
  • Identify and manage external consultants to support permitting communications and grassroots advocacy.
  • Monitor local political and regulatory dynamics; recommend and implement proactive strategies to mitigate entitlement risk.
  • Organize and participate in public meetings open houses educational sessions and local events to build awareness and project support.
  • Support internal teams in creating and managing stakeholder databases and contact logs (e.g. SmartSheet/SiteTracker CRM) to track communications concerns and support.
  • Oversee and implement community benefit initiatives including sponsorships donations and formal agreements tailored to host communities.
  • Collaborate with communications development and operations teams to develop clear locally relevant messaging and outreach materials.
  • Track community sentiment monitor opposition and escalate issues as needed to maintain project viability and local trust.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in community engagement permitting public affairs or stakeholder relations preferably with energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working specifically with battery energy storage systems (BESS)or closely related technologies is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with local and regional permitting processesand political landscapes relevant to energy development.
  • Proven ability to manage external consultants and represent project interests with professionalism and credibility in community settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and convey complex information in accessible terms.
  • Highly organized with experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SmartSheet and SiteTracker tools a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% to project locations.

Pay: $60 - $75/hr
