Job Summary
Under general supervision plumbing includes the work and/or practice materials fixtures used in the installation removal maintenance extension and alternative of a plumbing system of all piping fixtures fixed appliances and appurtenances in connection with the following sanitary drainage on storm drainage facilities special wastes the venting system and the public or private water supply systems. Working knowledge of chilled water and hot water supply and returns is also mandatory. Perform routine maintenance and to restore alarms and emergency calls related to mechanical systems and utilities including life support systems such as: oxygen medical air and vacuum.Qualifications
1) Responds to emergency and trouble calls throughout the hospital.
2) Installs and repairs plumbing throughout the campus including but not limited to: piping valves faucets plumbing fixtures drains.
3) May perform functions of a gas-fitter steam-fitter and sprinkler-fitter.
4) Must be proficient in the assembly and installation of different plumbing materials such as but not limited to: iron steel glass copper and plastic.
5) Must be able to sort solder silver solder and caulk joints
6) Must be knowledgeable of threading tools.
7) Be able to install and maintain oxygen vacuum and air systems.
8) Complete daily record of work completed.
9) a) Is subject to call anytime for emergencies. b) Respond to problems of all trades during off shift hours as required.
10) Regularly directs the work of plumbers assistant or apprentice.
11) To perform routine preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.
12) To respond to any emergency call or alarm and to repair the problem or make the appropriate referral.
13) To function as a work order coordinator answering phones dispatching calls making work orders.
14) To monitor and/or operate the following systems campus satellites& east mechanical/scientific alarms Translogic tube systems Honeywell building automation Andover building automation fire alarm system and any other of our automated systems.
To accept responsibility as a charge person in the absence of a supervisor. Performs special projects and other outside grounds duties as assigned.
17) Assists in Operations answering phones dispatching calls monitoring alarm systems making temp/humidity adjustments via automation
18) Responds to problems of all trades such as carpentry locksmith plumbing electrical and HVAC as needed.
19) Respond to keep the entry ways and exits open during weather events such as snow by assisting with clearing and spreading snow melt.

Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma Plumbing preferred

Experience
completion of a three-year apprentice program in plumbing plus one to two years of formal training 2-3 years required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and follow blueprints.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts plumbing codes.
- Physical strength to carry tools and equipment and to walk throughout the Hospital.
- Ability to work overtime on occasion and ability to provide own hand tools.
- Occasionally (less than 15% of the time) must exert to lift over seventy pounds.
