Boyd Jones is seeking a Project Engineer in the renewables division to assist in the development of renewable energy projects. Typical projects are 3MW-100MW projects with project budgets of $2M or more. Key Responsibilities - Project Planning and Design:
- Support the development of renewable energy projects including feasibility studies site assessments and conceptual designs.
- Assist in preparing detailed engineering designs technical specifications and equipment layouts.
- Work closely with project development teams to evaluate technical and financial feasibility.
- Project Management and Execution:
- Oversee engineering deliverables ensuring alignment with project timelines budgets and quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including construction procurement and permitting.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress troubleshoot technical challenges and ensure safety compliance.
- Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving:
- Review and validate technical documentation including schematics drawings and system calculations.
- Provide technical support during procurement construction and commissioning phases.
- Identify opportunities for system optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with clients contractors and suppliers to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Communicate technical concepts and project updates to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support project bids and proposals by contributing technical input and cost estimates.
- Compliance and Sustainability:
- Ensure all projects comply with local state and federal regulations and standards.
- Promote sustainable design practices and innovative renewable energy solutions.
Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical Mechanical Civil or related field).
- 1-3 years of experience in renewable energy or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of solar wind and/or energy storage systems and their integration.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g. AutoCAD PVsyst ETAP).
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g. NEC IEEE ASCE).
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications - Professional Engineering (PE) license or EIT certification preferred
- Experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of permitting and interconnection processes.
- Understanding of energy modeling grid integration and battery storage technologies.
Working Conditions: - Normally works in a general office environment with the use of computer printer telephone copier fax and and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise dust etc.
