PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Athletic Trainer performs all athletic duties and coordinates the athletic training program to provide quality emergency care treatment and rehabilitation for injured athletes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certification Requirements
- Licensed as an Athletic Trainer by the State of Texas
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Organize and operates the training room at the field house
- Supervise and direct student trainers in emergency care use of therapeutic modalities and treatment rehabilitation and prevention of injuries
- Standardize procedures for application of devices such as bandages and braces designed to prevent or protect against injury
- Maintain communications with parents coaches and physicians concerning injured athletes
- Coordinate with the head coach the scheduling of the athletic contests to be covered by the training staff
- Maintain records as required such as physicians referrals physical examinations medical bills athletic injury reports and other documentation as deemed necessary
- Requisition store and supervise the use of training supplies
- Maintain accurate student accounting records and other reports in compliance with local and state requirements
- Participate in in-service workshops
- Plan for and engage in professional development
- Interact and communicate effectively with parents and school staff
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules regulations and practices
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educators Code of
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
