Job Description
The Womens Center at Virginia Tech seeks an energetic and committed leader to serve as the Assistant Director Advocacy Services (AD) of the CARES Program (Campus Advocacy Resources and Education for Survivors) under the direction of the Director of Advocacy Services. The Womens Center is a unit of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at Virginia Tech. The AD provides leadership to the CARES Program that serves as a confidential resource that provides support and advocacy services to students faculty and staff who have been impacted by gender or power-based violence such as sexual assault domestic violence dating violence stalking harassment and many other forms of violence. The AD provides oversight of the CARES Program advocacy and support services supervises advocacy staff and interns provides direct services provides training to allied professionals and assists with CARES Program outreach efforts.
Required Qualifications
Masters Degree in Social Work Counseling Student Affairs or another human services field.
Comprehensive counseling and/or advocacy work experience.
Demonstrated experience in providing direct services to survivors of sexual assault domestic violence stalking and other forms of interpersonal violence.
Strong communication skills including ability to make public presentations and facilitate training workshops.
Excellent administrative skills such as ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead work groups to successful completion of projects and tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing counseling advocacy or support services in a higher education setting.
Supervisory experience
Licensure in appropriate field (LCSW LPC etc.)

Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
