Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of Environmental Services which may include general cleaning floor maintenance and laundry functions. Responsible for the coordination and monitoring of patient transport activities with shift responsibility and accountability for the Patient Transportation Department. Coordinates staff activities including completing shift assignments and interacts regularly with nursing units and ancillary departments. Assists the Manager with responsibility for maintaining and working within department budget following policies and procedures providing training programs to direct care staff. Supervisor assists with quality improvement programs/projects to ensure safe and timely transportation of patients throughout the hospital. This position reports to Manager Environmental Services (EVS) and or Patient Transport.
Essential Functions
- Supervising Environmental Services employees. Interviewing selecting and training new employees. Monitoring current employees and providing ongoing training coaching and performance management.
- Participating in the development and implementation of department wide projects and programs. Responding to customer concerns/compliments.
- Controlling operating expenses. Adjusting staffing levels based on fluctuating workloads.
- Developing and maintaining employee performance standards to achieve desired quality results through daily rounding in areas of responsibility and performing required audits. Evaluating employee performance.
- Utilizing Corewell Standards and effective communication skills to incorporate specific age cultural or developmental needs.
- Maintaining and/or improving employee engagement through rounding recognition team building and meeting.
- Participation in department and hospital committees.
- Developing programs/practices which ensure correct/safe care and usage of chemical products and equipment.
- Evaluation of new and existing products and equipment.
Qualifications
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Associates Degree related area
- 3 years of relevant experience Management Required
- Knowledge of hospital procedures and practices Required
