Position Summary
The Division of Genetics and Metabolism in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina is seeking a full time Clinical Instructor (Advanced Practice Provider ( APP )) to participate in clinical research studies for rare genetic disorders and to provide patient care for metabolic and genetic patients. The APP will work with Drs. Muenzer and Jalazo on clinical trials developing new therapies for patients with mucopolysaccharidoses and Angelman syndrome as well as other metabolic/genetic disorders. Responsibilities will include participation in clinical trials performing health care assessments physical examinations procedures such as lumbar puncture and accessing intrathecal drug delivery devices study startup regulatory activities and the management and treatment of metabolic/genetic patients. The APP will also provide oversight for administration of both investigational and FDA -approved enzyme replacement therapy infusions for patients with lysosomal storage and/or other metabolic disorders.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Preferred qualifications include outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and flexibility. Preference given to candidates licensed to provide care to both pediatric and adult patients. At least one year of clinical trial experience preferably for infusion therapies for pediatric patients. At least one year of experience providing or overseeing administration of infusion therapies for pediatric patients. Experience in the management and care of patients with mucopolysaccharidoses Angelman syndrome and/or other pediatric neurodegenerative/neurodevelopmental disorders is preferred.
