We are looking for a Mechanical Technologist to perform operations and maintenance in the facilities of the Aerospace Research Centre. The Mechanical Technologist would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity Excellence Respect and Creativity.
The successful candidate will play an important role within a team of Mechanical Technologists serving the Aerodynamics Laboratory (AL). The work will be conducted at the Uplands Campus facilities. Responsibilities will include carrying out compressor and cooling tower operations facility equipment maintenance and test preparations.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate a large compressor (11250 HP ten-stage radial flow) and associated drying and cooling systems. You will safely perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of large mechanical equipment such as hydraulic pumps heat exchangers water treatment systems valves etc. You will also be required to perform mechanical test preparation duties for the ALs 1.5 m and 9 m wind tunnels.
The successful candidate will be expected to effectively perform troubleshooting of main and auxiliary equipment conduct routine repairs and properly communicate and report operational and maintenance issues.

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:
Certificate or diploma from a post-secondary school in a Mechanical Trade or Mechanical Technician / Technologist program.
A relevant combination of education and experience may also be considered.
