Job Description

We have a new opportunity to join our Head Office Marketing Team at Pavers as a CMS Executive. This is a full time permanent role and will be based at our York Head Office Northminster Business Park.

Our CMS Executive will be responsible for managing and updating website content across all Pavers and Jones Bootmaker platforms. This includes product listings landing pages banners blogs and promotional assets. Working closely with marketing design and merchandising teams the CMS Executive will ensure content is timely accurate on-brand and optimised for performance and conversion. This role plays a key part in enhancing the customer journey improving product discoverability and driving conversion through compelling visual presentation and data-led merchandising decisions. The CMS Executive will sit within the ecommerce trading team reporting to the Ecommerce Manager.

We are ideally looking for someone with a couple of years experience in a content management role ideally from a retail/fashion or eCommerce background. Youll also need a good working knowledge of CMS platforms and be familiar with basic HTML/CSS & image editing tools with a passion for creating clean user-friendly shopping experiences.

Website & Content Management

  • Own the day-to-day content updates on the website using the CMS (e.g. Shopify Adobe Experience Manager).
  • Ensure accurate and timely publishing of product pages promotions and marketing assets.
  • Implement seasonal updates campaign launches and homepage refreshes in collaboration with marketing and design.

Product Listings & Merchandising

  • Upload and maintain product information including descriptions images pricing tags and categorisation.
  • Collaborate with merchandising teams to ensure the correct placement of products on category and collection pages.
  • Monitor stock levels and product visibility in coordination with operations and inventory teams.

Product Merchandising & Category Optimisation

  • Plan and execute product placement strategies across homepage category pages landing pages and promotional areas to maximise engagement and sales.
  • Manage seasonal and weekly refreshes of product listings based on stock availability performance and trading priorities.
  • Work closely with the trading and buying teams to ensure the right products are surfaced based on commercial goals.
  • Monitor and improve category performance metrics such as click-through rate add-to-cart rate and conversion.

Campaign & Landing Page Setup

  • Support the setup of promotional and campaign pages with effective layouts and engaging visuals.
  • Ensure consistency with brand guidelines and UX best practices across all content placements.
  • Assist with testing previewing and scheduling content updates and product launches.

Site Experience & Conversion Optimisation

  • Partner with UX and CRO teams to test and iterate on layouts filters sort orders and display logic.
  • Use onsite analytics tools (e.g. GA4 heatmaps) to identify and resolve merchandising friction points.
  • Analyse performance by category device and geography to tailor merchandising strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain SEO-friendly product categorisation and naming conventions where applicable.

Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform regular content checks for broken links formatting issues and display errors across devices and browsers.
  • Work with developers and IT team to flag and resolve CMS-related bugs or technical issues.

Content Optimisation & Collaboration

  • Support SEO best practices in on-site content (e.g. meta tags alt text keyword usage).
  • Collaborate with digital marketing teams to align content with email social and paid campaigns.
  • Contribute ideas for improving website structure navigation and content layout based on performance data.

Heres what we are looking for as a CMS Executive

Essential:

  • 2 years of experience in a CMS/content management role ideally in retail fashion or eCommerce.
  • Strong working knowledge of CMS platforms (Shopify Magento Contentful etc.).
  • Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS and image editing tools (e.g. Photoshop Canva) a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple updates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A good eye for design and layout with a passion for creating clean user-friendly experiences.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Shopify Plus and content automation tools
  • Understanding of UX/UI principles and how content impacts user behaviour.
  • Exposure to SEO Google Analytics or heat mapping tools like Hotjar.

The Pavers story began in York in 1971 when Catherine Paver took out a 200 bank loan (for a sofa she told them) to fund her new business. She had big dreams of changing the world of footwear and a passion to provide comfortable and stylish shoes for all.

Starting small she sold shoes at village halls and homeware parties before opening the first Pavers shop in Scarborough in 1981 when Catherines three sons joined the business. One of her sons Stuart ran the business as Managing Director for over 40 years joined by his son Jason in 2016. As of September 2023 Jason Paver is now the Managing Director of Pavers Ltd with Stuart Paver moving to Chairman taking the company into the 3rd generation of family run leadership.

From these modest beginnings Pavers Shoes has grown to be a UK leader in todays footwear industry with over 180 stores nationwide encompassing our more recently acquired brands including Jones Bootmaker Herring Shoes Padders & Van Dal.
