As an Insurance and Claims Adviser youll support National Grids strategic goals by providing expert insurance claims and risk management advice and support with a particular focus on major infrastructure projects in the UK and Europe. You will also maintain close relationships across the entire Group Insurance team. When it comes to claims you will be managing service providers and providing strategic input to relevant internal stakeholders where appropriate.

Youll provide insurance consultancy and solutions for new projects and technologies identifying insurable risks and managing them through cost effective provisions of insurance solutions.

In addition youll support the global insurance and reinsurance strategy and solutions by providing strategic thinking data analysis and representation of material matters and exposures.

This role can be based out of our London or Warwick office and wed hope to see you at least two days per week but youre welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. Were happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What Youll Do

  • Leading in the assessment review and recommendation of insurance requirements for our major infrastructure projects.
  • Implement approved insurance strategies to ensure appropriate protection of National Grids assets insurable liabilities and new business developments.
  • Leading studies to ensure placement of coverage with appropriate limits deductibles and retentions.
  • Set direction by maintaining up to date knowledge of insurance markets.
  • Advise businesses on issues related to risk and insurance within commercial contracts.
  • Provision of credible data and analysis to support underwriting disclosure to various insurers/reinsurers.
  • Drive performance improvements by establishing and sharing best practice challenging peers and maintaining key relationships across the insurance sector.

What Youll Have

  • Insurance and risk management background ideally from within in-house positions insurance underwriting or broking.
  • Experience in leading and placing insurance programs in the UK or global insurance markets.
  • Reviewing and negotiating insurance terms and conditions including policy wordings
  • Knowledge of usual lines of insurance coverage purchased to support large and complex infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to review and advise on insurance provisions within project and finance documents including liaison with legal and other advisers.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience you can build and develop strong cross-functional business partnerships.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Self-discipline and strong organisational skills
  • A positive attitude high motivation and the ability to maintain a culture that is based on teamwork respect and integrity.
  • Ability to manage time effectively set priorities and meet deadlines.

What Youll Get

Competitive base salary dependent on experience.

This is a hybrid working role from our London or Warwick office with circa 2 days per week in the office.
