Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Earlham Primary School


Earlham Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive mainstream school in Wood Green with high expectations for all members of our community. The school is conveniently located a short journey from Wood Green Underground Station.


We are currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team.

Apprenticeship Summary:


  • Salary:7.55 an hour
  • Working Week:Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm with a 30 minute break
  • Hours:32.5 hours per week
  • Online apprenticeship training supported by our skilled tutors
  • Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship standard qualification
  • Location:Earlham Grove London Wood Green N22 5HJ



The Role:


You will work under the guidance of the Class Teacher and Inclusion Lead to support the specific needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role involves providing targeted support to individual pupils and small groups ensuring that all children have access to a high-quality inclusive learning experience and are supported to achieve their full potential. Your work will be directed by the class teacher and Inclusion Lead and will play a key part in delivering personalised interventions and promoting positive outcomes. The role also includes supporting pupils during the schools breakfast and after-school clubs helping to create a safe welcoming and engaging environment beyond the classroom.


Main Duties:


Support for Pupils

  • Assist in the delivery of individual learning plans and EHCPs providing targeted support in class and through evidence-based interventions.
  • Build positive supportive relationships with pupils acting as a role model and promoting self-esteem motivation and independence.
  • Use a variety of strategies and resources to ensure full curriculum access for all children adapting support as needed.
  • Attend to pupils personal social and health needs and develop strong partnerships with parents and carers.



Support for Teachers

  • Deliver planned activities to individuals or small groups ensuring a clear understanding of lesson objectives.
  • Contribute to planning assessment and evaluation of learning activities in collaboration with teachers and support staff.
  • Keep accurate records of pupil progress and provide clear objective feedback.



Support for the Curriculum

  • Implement structured learning activities adapting them to meet pupils needs and responses.
  • Support national and local learning strategies (e.g. literacy numeracy EYFS KS1) and encourage pupil engagement with ICT.
  • Prepare and manage resources to support effective teaching and learning.



Support for the School

  • Follow school policies on safeguarding health and safety confidentiality and data protection.
  • Promote inclusion and equality supporting the schools ethos and values.
  • Collaborate with staff and external professionals attend relevant meetings and training and support pupil supervision during breaks clubs and school trips.

  • Has strong ICT written verbal and oracy skills
  • Is able to support adapt and deliver learning based on individual needs and EHCPs
  • Is skilled in evidence-based interventions and a range of SEND strategies
  • Is a positive calm and professional communicator
  • Is an effective team player with excellent time management
  • Is reflective proactive and committed to high-quality outcomes for pupils



Other Requirements

  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Commitment to safeguarding equality and professional development.
  • Willingness to undergo training and enhanced DBS check.

Training and Development:

As an apprentice you will receive support through both on-the-job learning and formal training as part of your apprenticeship programme. This will typically include:

  • Study towards a relevant qualification Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma.
  • On-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals.
  • Regular review meetings to track progress and development.
