  • Temporary full-time opportunity (up to 31 July 2026)

Heritage NSW works with communities to protect celebrate and manage our incredible heritage across NSW. If you are keen to be a part of a high performing multi-disciplinary team that helps conserve and protect the Aboriginal built and archaeological heritage of NSW then this is the job for you!

The Blue Plaques program shares the fascinating stories of people and events often unknown that have helped shape the heritage of NSW.

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).

About the role

Heritage NSW is seeking a proactive and community-mindedProject Officer to help deliver the 1965 Freedom Ride Plaque trail.

In this role youll support the design and delivery of community engagement activities that empower local communities to share their stories about this important event. Youll work closely with the project team stakeholders and community members to ensure engagement is inclusive relevant and impactful.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience working in contested spaces and on complex community engagement projects with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal stakeholders. You will be confident in prioritising your work and delivering to a high standard. You work collaboratively and enjoy building good relationships with your colleagues.

Who we are

The Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water(DCCEEW) works to protect the states environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy powered by affordable reliable and clean energy.

DCCEEW conserves and protects the states natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.

DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state to support the environment communities and industry.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
