Job Description

Stroke Floor Hospitalist (Internal Medicine) Oklahoma City Advance your career in stroke care at a nationally recognized center. Were seeking a dedicated Stroke Floor Hospitalist to join our inpatient team in a full-time daytime position. In this high-acuity role youll manage patients with stroke and neurocritical conditions alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team-including neurologists intensivists and subspecialists. Youll practice at a 773-bed tertiary care hospital and regional referral center designated as a DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level III Trauma Center. With access to advanced inpatient and outpatient services including specialty clinics in neurology stroke and cardiology youll help deliver exceptional accessible care to a diverse patient population.

Compensation & Schedule

On-site coverage from 7am to 7pm @ $1650 per 12 hour shift 7 days on 7 days off (additional shifts available if desired) & comprehensive benefits package with 401K match

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary admitting and attending physician for patients on the Stroke Floor

  • Manage inpatient care for patients with stroke neurocritical conditions and related diagnoses

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team (PT OT ST Case Management) to optimize patient outcomes

  • Collaborate closely with Neuro ICU physicians stroke/vascular neurologists neurointerventionalists and other consultants

  • Coordinate with stroke navigators nursing teams and night coverage providers to ensure continuity of care

  • Manage patient census and coordinate transfers within and between hospitalist teams as needed

  • Provide general management of uncomplicated cases in various subspecialties (e.g. nephrology endocrinology oncology) when stroke/neuro census is low

  • Procedural Requirements: Lumbar puncture & basic ultrasound-guided interventions

Required Privileges

  • Internal Medicine Core Privileges (including lumbar puncture and general management of uncomplicated subspecialty cases)

  • Moderate Sedation for Non-Anesthesia Providers (must meet one of the following):

  • Current ACLS ATLS or PALS/NRP certification and successful completion of a pharmacology-based sedation competency exam ( 80%)

  • Current board certification in Emergency Medicine Pulmonary Medicine or Critical Care Medicine

Candidate Qualifications

  • MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine

  • Prior experience in stroke or neurocritical care preferred; additional in-service training available
